The Camera itself handles facial recognition and video storage — not the Cloud — and it only communicates with your smartphone via a secure, encrypted connection. Netatmo guarantees a secure service and does not have access to your data. Cloud storage is only available if you authorise it.

FAQ
What happens if there’s no internet connection?
You will receive a notification saying there is no internet connection. The Indoor Camera Advance will continue to function and record videos. However, the camera cannot send new videos to the app without an internet connection, and you will not receive notifications. The Indoor Camera Advance will add all new videos to the app once there is an internet connection again.
What happens if someone takes my camera?
You will receive a notification saying that the Indoor Camera Advance has been deactivated. If someone takes your Indoor Camera Advance, they cannot access your data or videos without your Netatmo account details.
How does Netatmo Smart Privacy work?
With facial recognition, the camera can automatically close the shutter when you arrive home, giving you peace of mind that your privacy is protected. The camera detects your departure using geofencing technology, which can tell when you have left the perimeter around your home, and then it will automatically reopen the privacy shutter.
Can I manually activate or deactivate the privacy shutter?
Yes, you can activate and deactivate your camera at any time in the Home + Security app. When you deactivate your camera, the shutter automatically closes, and it reopens when you activate it.
What is stored in the cloud?
Only a screenshot of each video is stored for free in the Netatmo cloud. The camera selects a screenshot with the clearest photo of a face. The screenshots are sent to your device via a bank-level encrypted connection.
What is stored in the camera?
Identification data and videos are stored locally on the camera’s microSD card. If you remove the microSD card, the identification data and videos are deleted from the camera.
