Netatmo celebrates Earth Day

To celebrate Earth Week, Netatmo, a leading brand in smart home devices, has announced a partnership with NoPlasticInMySea. For 55 years, Earth Day has aimed to raise awareness about environmental protection and promote activities to preserve the planet. Each year, millions of people take part in activities such as beach clean-ups, tree planting, conferences and awareness campaigns. These initiatives aim to motivate the general public, businesses and governments to take real, tangible steps towards protecting our planet.

No Plastic in my Sea

Netatmo has partnered with No Plastic In My Sea, a French organisation committed to the fight against plastic pollution in the ocean. Founded in 2017, this organisation raises awareness among the general public, businesses and political decision-makers about environmental issues related to plastic, and promotes sustainable alternatives through mobilisation campaigns and dedicated events.

As part of the partnership, Netatmo will donate 5% of its profits generated on its online shop during Earth Week (between 21 and 28 April 2025) to support the organisation's activities to reduce plastic pollution and raise awareness of this cause.

This donation will support the organisation's activities, including:

  • "Zero Bottle Target": since its launch in April 2024, this programme has helped prevent the use of over 1.4 billion plastic bottles in one year, through actions that raise awareness and promote alternatives (in particular the creation of an online map listing around 250 water fountains where people can fill their water bottle for free).
  • "No Plastic Challenge": this is a challenge aimed at raising awareness of the fight against single-use plastic, through individual actions as well as collective mobilisation. The objective is to show that we do not need disposable plastic in our daily lives and to encourage a transition to a plastic-free life.

Individual actions for a collective impact

Reducing your carbon footprint and limiting pollution, particularly plastic pollution, involves everyday actions, including better managing your heating, reducing your electricity use, prioritising recycling, buying second-hand, eating more sustainably and using alternative modes of transport. According to a study by the French Ministry of Ecological Transition (CRÉDOC), waste sorting remains the most common action among the French population, with 25% of respondents stating it's their main environmental initiative.

In the electronics sector, every product manufactured has an environmental impact. Netatmo, aware of this reality, advocates a more sustainable model by combating planned obsolescence and designing smart devices that are built to last. All Netatmo products receive regular and free updates throughout their life cycle, guaranteeing their security and performance over time.

By focusing on a small range of regularly updated Smart Home products that are genuinely useful and perfectly suited to their purpose, Netatmo does not encourage thoughtless repurchasing. From the outset, the Netatmo team has worked to produce simple, timeless designs that will fit into any interior and, above all, will not become outdated.

Some products, such as the Smart Thermostat and Radiator Valves, go even further by enabling users to better regulate their heating consumption, reducing their carbon footprint.

2025 will be marked by major advances in the fight against plastic pollution, with the signing of an international treaty in August and the designation of the Year of the Sea, highlighting the protection of the oceans. These are all opportunities to strengthen commitments and encourage tangible actions for a more sustainable future.
